Dive into summer at Tinside Lido

Tinside Lido reopens for the summer season on 23 May, just in time for May half term! Overlooking the stunning Plymouth Sound, the iconic Art Deco outdoor pool is one of Plymouth’s most popular waterfront attractions. Tinside Lido is the perfect place to make a splash this half term! 

                              

Explore the National Marine Aquarium

Visit The National Marine Aquarium and discover a whole other underwater world. It’s the largest aquarium in the UK and home to over 4,000 animals. Your visit will take you on a journey from the local waters of Plymouth Sound all the way to the tropical seas of Australia. There are plenty of events happening across half term including Sleeping with the Sharks.

The Box is Plymouth’s major award winning museum, art gallery and archive. Not only is it free to enter but there are plenty of child-friendly spaces, interactive exhibitions and an incredible natural history collection.

The major exhibition Beryl Cook: Pride & Joy is open across the half term, and not only that, but you can alsoo explore the Beryl Cook Sculpture Trail across the city! The Box are also hosting a variety of events across the week including Family Fun: Picnic and Pasties. 

The Box even has its own Kitchen and Bar, meaning that you can have an easy fun-filled day out with all of the family with some delicous food!

             

Climb the iconic Smeaton’s Tower

Standing proudly on Plymouth Hoe, Smeaton’s Tower is one of the city’s most recognisable landmarks. Climb to the top of the historic lighthouse and enjoy panoramic views across Plymouth, the coastline and beyond. Along the way, discover the fascinating story behind the famous red and white tower and its important maritime history.

                 

Step back in time at the Mayflower Museum

Located in the heart of Plymouth’s historic Barbican, the Mayflower Museum is packed with fascinating stories about the Pilgrims and the Mayflower voyage. With interactive displays, historic artefacts and family-friendly exhibits, it’s a great place for children and adults alike to learn more about Plymouth’s incredible maritime heritage during half term.

                

Drake Circus The Barcode

Drake Circus’s The Barcode is the perfect place for a fun-filled rainy day! There’s so much to do that kids will never be bored. There are plenty of activities to keep you busy, you can watch a 4D movie at Cineworld, play a round of adventure golf at Paradise Island Adventure Golf or go bowling at Spinners.

When it’s time to eat, there are tasty options for everyone. Whether you’re craving pizza at Las Iguanas, yummy burgers from Five Guys, or spicy chicken at Nando’s. It’s a day of fun, food, and adventure all in one place!

            

Get your game on at Continue Arcade!

Head to Continue Arcade in Plymouth city centre for a treasure trove of gaming fun. Pay on entry, then enjoy endless fun on the arcade games available! Whether you fancy yourself as a Pacman Pro, or Guitar Hero guru, there is plenty of retro-themed excitement to get involved in! 

                  

Catch an amazing show at Market Hall's immersive dome

Nestled in the heart of Plymouth's historic neighbourhood Devonport, the Market Hall boasts a fully immersive dome. With cutting-edge technology, visitors can easily be transported to another world! Now showing, Our Story with David Attenborough takes audiences on a breathtaking journey through the history of our planet, brought to life through stunning visuals and powerful storytelling.

The Market Hall also has its very own café, with a tasty breakfast and lunch menu on offer, as well as coffee and cake. 

        

Dartmoor Zoo

Just outside Plymouth, Dartmoor Zoo offers a fantastic day out for all ages. Home to a diverse array of exotic and native animals—including tigers, monkeys, and meerkats—you’re sure to encounter some of your favourites. As a charity dedicated to wildlife conservation, education, and research, Dartmoor Zoo plays an important role in protecting our planet's creatures. This half-term, they are offering a Rangers course, where kids can take part in a fully interactive, three day workshop that will have them thrilled. 

                 

Theatre Royal Plymouth

The Theatre Royal Plymouth is the leading promoter of theatre in the South West, offering a diverse array of performances to suit every taste. Over half-term they will be showing The Detective Dog, a dog on a mission to find out the culprit of stolen books at a school!
