About us

Join us in Tavistock town centre on Thursday 2nd June as we come together as a community to celebrate the Queen's historic reign and Platinum Jubilee
❤️ We've pulled out all the stops to mark this tremendous achievement with a magnificent, delightfully nostalgic, fun-packed day for all the family.
✨ The day will begin with the 'River of Hope' pageant featuring children from 10 local schools all carrying flags they have designed on the Platinum Jubilee theme of the natural world and hopes for the future. The flags will be paraded through town and then installed in St. Eustachius Churchyard for the weekend.
✨ There'll be plenty to see and do for young and not so young alike. So, why not dress in your best vintage costume and join in? You don't have to dress up, but if you fancy being a cool cat for the day then pull out all the style-stops because there'll be a prize on offer for the very best outfit.
✨ Perhaps you might like to drop into the Town Hall for a Tea-Dance with a Twist? Plymouth Dance will be on hand to lead you gently through the dance-steps as you glide wistfully across the floor to the sounds of a bygone age. Please note, this is a FREE event but you must book tickets for the timed sessions on this link – https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/…/tea-dance-with-a-twist… Cream teas can be ordered and are £3.50 plus booking fee
✨ Meanwhile be made in the shade in Guildhall Car Park where we're going all out to channel the 1950s. Think Brighton Pier, striped deck-chairs, candy floss and Ice-cream cones melting on your sandals in the sunshine. We'll even set up a stage for live music performances and get you jivin to the funky sounds of the 1950s through 1970s.
✨ You'll be able to help yourself to the grindage from our street food stalls, and our Pimms bar too. Or if you prefer, indulge in a traditional cream-tea. Whatever your preference, be sure to razz your berries in a ringside seat. You might even shed the odd sentimental tear as you hug your loved ones close.
✨ Across the road on the Church lawn you'll find the fun Kids Zone. Watch as tiny (and maybe not so tiny) faces light up with delight at our traditional Punch & Judy Show. Beloved by generations, this show is for the whole family and features the hilarious antics of Mr Punch and his long-suffering wife Judy! The amazing Rainbow Gecko will also be there to wow its tiny audience with a magical bubble-show and face-painting. Then, let your little ones Splat-The-Rat, or send coconuts flying at the Coconut Shy.
✨ Meanwhile, Bank Square will be transformed into a Carnaby Street scene, complete with DJ and old-stye decs. Our resident disc-jockey will be waiting to play your very own favourite vinyl so get your groove on, grab that stack of singles from home, buy a drink at the bar on arrival then chill with your pals as you dig the groovy tunes and evocative melodies of yesteryear. Far out man!
✨ Whatever you do, be sure to look out for our collection of couture-models in fabulous costumes by AJ Art ltd. Influenced mainly by theatre, art and fashion these fabulous clothing creations are made mostly from recycled materials and are a visual treat to behold.
✨ In the Butchers Hall will be a Jubilee Artisan & Gift Market packed full of local talent to treat yourself and your loved ones.
Wowzer what a day! Be there or be square!
