About us
Is your child interested in learning how to sew? Or wanting to try something new over the Easter holidays?
This workshop is perfect for children wanting to learn to sew who have never used a sewing machine before, or equally for children who haven't sewn in awhile and would like to refresh their skills.
Join our tutor Hannah on a journey where your child will get to know their sewing machine and build their confidence in a friendly, creative environment.
Learning in a small and relaxed group (Max 6 children), where no question is to silly to ask, but encouraged.
Hannah will guide them through each step with hands on instructions/ demos and lots of encouragement, making safety a priority to ensure a fun and safe learning experience for all.
Sewing can be a wonderful creative outlet for a child. It can develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, problem solving & confidence.
Sewing can teach kids that with patience, effort and creativity they can achieve their goals - an invaluable life lesson.
There's something magical about seeing a child's face light up after completing a project they have made all by themselves.
This workshop is suitable for children age 8+
What will my child learn?
-In this 2 hour workshop Hannah will go over the very important health and safety when using a sewing machine.
-The key features of a sewing machine.
-We will practice control of a sewing machine - sewing straight lines, curves, pivoting for corners.
-Practice a stitch sample - threading the needle, winding a bobbin, straight stitch, zigzag (if your machine has it), back stitch and seam allowance.
-Finally each child make a lovely cushion cover to take home and enjoy!
What to bring:
You will need to bring a sewing machine that's in good working order.
Everything else will be provided including fabric, a drink and a snack if desired.
Collection/ drop off
There will be two of us on site who are both DBS checked, so carers can either drop off and collect promptly at the end of the workshop. Or if you feel your child would benefit from extra support from yourself you are welcome to stay. There are local coffee shops near by.
