About us

The UK's premier all male theatre company, The Lord Chamberlain's Men, bring their fabulous production of William Shakespeare's timeless love story to Pentillie Castle, this summer.

We invite you to lay down a rug, admire the far-reaching views across the Tamar Valley, and enjoy those extra hours of sunshine at this open-air performance.

Synopsis
Two youths from Verona, Romeo and Juliet, meet by chance and instantly fall in love. As members of two warring families, the Montagues and the Capulets, they realise they cannot be together. But driven by love, they risk everything and marry in secret. No sooner are they married than misfortune intervenes and, despite efforts to outrun it, their families' ancient feud catches up with them and brings about their tragic end.

Packed with memorable poetry, devastating twists and turns, and burning passion this is, without doubt, the greatest love story ever told. A play about the power of true love, the extraordinary sacrifices we make for it, and the futility and devastating consequences of entrenched conflict.

Food & Drink: There will be a selection of food and drink offerings available to purchase on the night.

Timings: Gardens open from 5.30pm, performance begins at 7pm

Seating: Please bring low backed seating or a picnic rug, and dress up warmly.
