Join Emma Darwin on her journey through the artists, scientists, composers and poets of the Darwin-Wedgwood-Galton clan, as seen through the lens of her creative struggle to write fiction about them.Books about Emma Darwin's great-great-grandparents, Charles and Emma Darwin, are legion, but when she agreed to write a novel about her family, she looked for stories less often told.
Emma Darwin is an author of historical fiction, creative non-fiction, novels and short stories, teacher and mentor of creative writing. She has written the novels The Mathematics of Love and A Secret Alchemy and various short stories.
Charles Darwin stayed in Plymouth ahead of his voyage of discovery aboard HMS Beagle in 1831.
He undertook preparatory work at the Plymouth Athenaeum ahead of his voyage and later became a member of the Society.
