Looking for things to do in Plymouth this Twixmas? Fear not, as there are plenty of fun activities to do in the city for all the family. 

If you’ve already completed your Christmas presents, or just fed up of Christmas movies and want to get out the house, there’s so much fun to be had out an about in the city. So get your coats on, wrap up and embrace the embrace all the fun to be had in Plymouth between Christmas and New Year!   

Plymouth has plenty of attractions which are open to the public between Christmas and New Year. Families can enjoy a day out to the UK’s largest aquarium, which is home to more than 4,000 underwater animals. For adults, a trip to Plymouth Gin Distillery is a must. Gin has been produced there since 1793 and can now be found at bars across the globe. Visit the shop, embark on a tour and try a tipple of some of the many varieties of gin in stock.  

The family fun continues at the Theatre Royal Plymouth where the Dick Whittington Pantomime has been drawing top reviews over the Christmas period. 

This year's show includes television, recording, musical theatre and pantomime star Shane Richie. Joining him on stage is Plymouth’s beloved panto star Samuel Holmes as the mischievous Spirit of Bow Bells. 

They’ll be joined by a glittering cast including Anne Smith as the villainous Queen Rat, hometown talent Emily Beth Harrington as Alice Fitzwarren, Kira McPherson as the lovable Kitty Cat, and the hilarious Iain Stuart Robertson returning as Sarah, The Cook. 

Alternatively, visit Plymouth's award-winning museum The Box which is packed full of mesmerising collections from Plymouth's past as well as a full-size replica woolly mammoth, wonderful works of art, amazing archive film and photography, and fascinating documents, maps and plans.  

Their current major exhibition is is Remember Respond Resist which is part of the UK/Poland Season 2025 and features work by 23 different artists including Turner Prize winner Grayson Perry and Turner Prize nominee Goshka Macuga plus a presentation drawn from the archives at The Box that examines the historical and cultural ties between Plymouth and the Polish community. 

Alternatively, why not wrap up warm and explore the beautiful winter landscapes around Plymouth this season? 

Venture on one of several gorgeous winter walks around the local area, from the picturesque Plymouth Hoe to the floral surroundings of Plymbridge Woods or the historic Barbican, there are plenty of walkable locations on the doorstep. Alternatively, if a sandy haven is your wish there are plenty of local beaches nearby, and some dog-friendly ones too! From the vast sands of Bigbury on Sea to the quaint cove at Wembury you are spoilt for choice on where to go.                  

Despite Christmas having been and gone there is still festive spirit in the air in Plymouth with winter-themed events taking place in the City. Check out the festivities at Plymouth's Winter Wonderland in Central Park where you can go ice skating, enjoy festive music and more, then if you're still after that festive sparkle fear not as Dartmoor Zoo have you covered. Their Zooluminate experience takes you through a magical after-dark light show through the grounds of the zoo.   

Treat yourself to a meal out this twixmas with a range of cultural delights in Plymouth.  

Head to the Royal William Yard and take your pick from one of several tasty restaurants, whether it be the heartwarming dishes of Bistro Pierre, or the much-loved plates at The News Cafe, there’s plenty of venues to enjoy.  

Further dining is available in the city centre with Latin-themed Las Iguanas one of many options at Drake Circus, The Barcode, while nearby The Barbican is home to plenty of venues specialising in seafood including the ever-popular Boathouse restaurant.
