About us

The Gansey Gathering Sardine Festival celebrates sustainable fishing, traditional craft and coastal heritage.

The free event runs from 11am–4pm and includes workshops, demonstrations, and live entertainment. Throughout the day there will be performances from the Freedom Fields Ceilidh Band, The Sea Gals, Seaweed in the Fruit Locker, Plymouth Community Choir and storyteller Lisa Schneidau with wild traditional tales of the high seas. Learn about magical mermaids, royal fish and ocean heroines.

A FREE sardine BBQ sponsored by Interfish and managed by Food is Fun will run from 12–2pm at the event on Saturday 20th June at Commercial Wharf on the Barbican (11am – 4pm) and fresh fish will be available to buy all day from Sole of Discretion and Plymouth Fishing & Seafood Association.
