About us

Legendary guitarist Jim Mullen is a multi-award winning musician with a unique jazz style and sound, who is regarded as the high priest of the instrument by most young jazz guitarists. His quartet was in existence for six years from 1996 and is one of the most powerful ever to appear on the British jazz scene.
Jim first came to prominence playing with The Average White Band, then achieved jazz fame in 1975 with Dick Morrissey in Morrissey-Mullen. Jim has played and recorded with, among others, Mose Allison, Joanna Eden, Tam White, Claire Martin, Mike Carr, Jimmy Witherspoon, Dave O'Higgins, Georgie Fame & Frank Holder. Mullen has recorded as part of The Allstars, a collective of session musicians, on their Paul McCartney-produced album All About the Music.
Neil Burns is one of the finest guitarist to emerge in the West Country in recent years. He was born in Scotland near Glasgow. Neil is now in great demand as an accompanist for many visiting star musicians from the UK and the USA and has played with many renowned musicians including Jacquie Dankworth, Dave Newton, Mark Bassey, Carol Sudhalter (USA) and most recently Clare Teal in the Swing Machine Jazz Orchestra.
"His apparently effortless technique, authentic tone and intelligent phrasing make him an in demand musician" - St. Ives Jazz Club.
The group is completed by great bass player Kevin Sanders and the South-West's favourite drummer, Coach York.
The RBL Club has an excellent function room with stage, well-stocked bar, free car park, disabled access.
