About us

Plymouth Jazz Club is delighted to be able to present, by popular request, Lee Gibson, a nationally and internationally acclaimed jazz singer who has delighted critics and fans alike with her wonderful voice, innate sense of swing and dynamic stage presence. Lee has appeared at all the major jazz venues and festivals throughout the UK also headlining festivals in Australia and performing throughout Europe. As well as working with her own trio and quartet, Lee has worked with all the major bands in the UK and Europe. When performing with the Danish Radio Big Band, their conductor, the late Thad Jones described her as a "truly marvellous jazz singer".
Lee Gibson is a 'jazz vocal sensation' (The Independent)
'There can never be too much Lee Gibson…whether she is singing with the BBC Big Band or Holland's vast Metropole Orchestra.. she lights up any song with her musicality.'(The Observer).
"One of the treasures of British jazz" (Manchester Evening News).
"Without doubt, the best jazz singer this country has produced in the last 40 years." (Digby Fairweather).
Lee recently appeared at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club performing songs associated with Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald with Mark Nightingale, John Pearce, Paul Morgan and Bobby Worth.
Lee is also a leading Jazz educator and Senior Jazz Professor at The Guildhall School of Music And Drama, London.
Plymouth based saxophonist Martin Dale is one of the busiest and most popular jazz musicians in the South West and is also a member of the London based group "Sax Appeal". He has recorded for the BBC on radio and television and has released 8CDs which have been played on both Radio 2, 3 and Jazz FM. Martin regularly appears at UK Jazz festivals, has played at Ronnie Scott's and many other London venues.
