Saturday

Start your weekend off in the right way with a hearty filling breakfast by the waterside at The Barbican. The Instagramable area is home to many cute cafes offering a romantic atmosphere.

The Boathouse is much-loved for its brilliant brekkie beside the Mayflower Steps, although if you're feeling super hungry the mouthwatering breakfast platter boards at the Fig and Thyme are highly recommended. Feast your eyes on their sharing planks which range from a traditional fry up to 'the Mexican Melody'.

Remain on The Barbican and take a tour of one of Plymouth's gems, the Plymouth Gin Distillery. Head to the country's oldest working distillery and discover the brewing process of one of the world's renowned gins and even sample some for yourself in the ambient Refectory Bar.

If you've got room for food visit the popular Barbican Kitchen housed in the ralms of the distillery. The restaurant delivers fantastic locally sourced ingredients in a quaint setting.

Continue your memorable afternoon with a trip across the Sutton Harbour footbridge to the as-seen-on-TV National Marine Aquarium. Marvel at the underwater world on show at the largest aquarium in the UK. Everything from sharks to seahorses are among the 4,000 species available to see here.

As sunset descends make your way to the iconic Royal William Yard for an evening of fantastic food. The immaculately carved stone buildings provide a romantic aura underneath the orange sunset sky, they provide a ravishing backdrop along with the reflections of the sea for a picture to remember your stay.

The collection of former Royal Naval buildings is now a trendy neighbourhood home to several restaurants showcasing cultures from around the world. Taste Asian cuisine at Wagamama or Pho or if you're after a more laid-back experience enjoy comfort food at Seco Lounge.

End your enchanting Saturday with a trip to the intimate Everyman Cinema. Relax and watch whatever blockbuster takes your fancy in style thanks to the super comfy sofas. Don't stress if you're after a refreshment - the cinema offers waiter service meaning you don't have to get up and miss any of the film.

Sunday
