Plymouth has plenty to offer for anyone in the mood for a day of shopping. From big-name brands to independent makers and market stalls full of local character, the city’s retail scene is full of variety. This summer, take your time, explore a few different areas, and make a day of it in Britain’s Ocean City.

                        

Drake Circus Shopping Centre 

Right in the centre of town, Drake Circus brings together over 70 stores under one roof. It’s the biggest shopping centre in the South West, home to well-known names like H&M, Mango, Oliver Bonas, Levi’s, and White Stuff.

Recent additions include the region’s largest Mountain Warehouse – great for outdoor kit, family basics and travel essentials. A new, larger Costa Coffee also gives you an easy place to pause mid-shop. Whilst you are in the area, on the first Saturday of each month in Old Town Square, live music takes place. If you're feeling hungry after all the shopping, there's plenty of on site eateries. You can even head to the neighbouring Barcode where you can enjoy a meal at Las Iguanas, Franco Manca or Brewdog. and more. The Barcode also offers fun attractions like Paradise Island Adventure Golf, Cineworld, Boom Battle Bar and Spinners, making it the perfect spot for post-shopping entertainment with friends or family.

                              

City Centre

Explore the newly refurbished streets of Plymouth's city centre, a bustling hub filled with a mix of high street favourites such as TK Maxx, House of Fraser and Sports Direct as well as unique independent shops. From homewares and fashion to jewellery and electronics, there’s something for everyone to shop for this summer. Be sure to not miss the newly-refurbished New George Street. The area bustling with stores has had a major makeover and is now a pretty sight to see with vibrant plants, trees and seating options available throughout.

                             

The West End and Plymouth Market 

Treat yourself this summer with an adventure into the vibrant West End of Plymouth city centre, where you can find a treasure trove of independent shops and restaurants. This lively area is a food lover's paradise, offering a diverse range of cuisines to satisfy any palate.

Located in the heart of the West End, Plymouth Market is a cultural gem teeming with over 150 independent stores offering unique, locally-made goods. After a busy shopping spree you can also indulge in a feast at the Market with plenty of delicious dishes from across the world being plated up by vendors on site. The Barbican

Step back in time and explore one of Plymouth's most historic and iconic areas, the Barbican. Its charming streets are lined with shops housed in some of the city's oldest buildings, offering everything from luxury boutiques and art galleries to quirky gift shops. Pick up the perfect Plymouth gift from Kaya Gallery, a tasty treat from Roly's Fudge Pantry or a novelty present from the Tourist Infromation Centre.

After shopping, unwind at the water’s edge with a visit to attractions like The Mayflower Steps, The National Marine Aquarium and the Mayflower Museum. End your day in the summer sunshine with a relaxing meal or drink at one of the many waterfront bars and restaurants.

             

Royal William Yard 

For shopping with a difference, head to Royal William Yard. This beautifully restored naval yard is now home to stylish boutiques, design stores, and pop-up markets set among grand historic architecture. Browse for contemporary homeware, fashion, and artisan goods, or time your visit with one of the Yard’s regular Good Food & Craft markets and creative events for even more independent finds. There is a new venture called Arcade which is absoloutely worth exploring! 

                      

Pop up markets 

Nothing beats a pop-up market and there are plenty scattered across the city to explore across the summer months. Plymouth City Centre is a regular host of seasonal markets, hosting The Bazaar market every month, which celebrates local vendors showcasing expertly crafted, high-quality products. There is also an Arts & Crafts Market which takes place at the picturesque Pier Masters House every Sunday.
