June has arrived and Plymouth is packed with activities to enjoy throughout the month as Britain’s Ocean City gears up for a summer in the sunshine. Take a look at our pick of some of the top events taking place in Plymouth this June, with family friendly activities, memorable days out and more to look forward to throughout the month. For the full range of things to do in Plymouth, visit the what’s on calendar for further events and information. 

Armed Forces Day  

Armed Forces Day, in association with Babcock International, returns to Plymouth Hoe on Saturday 27 June. The hugely popular event welcomes more than 50,000 visitors across the day where everyone gets together to celebrate the fantastic work our Armed Forces do. Get ready for activities, live music, parades, and more at the family-friendly day which is completely free to attend. 

Live Music and Festivals 

June welcomes an array of live music events to Plymouth as festival season gets underway. Plymouth City Centre kicks things off with Saturday Sessions at Old Town Square on Saturday 6 June with the Hot House Combo performing at Old Town Square from 2-3.30pm. The city centre music scene continues the following weekend at Live at the Amphitheatre on Armada Way where the Rin Tins are performing with support from Evelyn Shaw on Saturday 13 June. Both events are free to attend and promise not to disappoint.  

Plymstock Festival by the Sea welcomes a weekend of tribute acts on 12-13 June. Head to the event for tributes to The Killers, Queen, Arctic Monkeys and more across the weekend. There’s more live music at Mount Edgcumbe as it welcomes Morvala festival from 25-28 June.  Curated for music lovers of all ages, Morvala will offer a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere where world-class creativity meets grassroots spirit. The festival will feature five live stages showcasing an exciting mix of international headline acts, emerging talent, and beloved local artists. Mount Edgcumbe also hosts a new food festival, The Big Bite, on Saturday 20 June. The festival is set to bring together incredible street food, artisan producers and live entertainment for a truly memorable summer day out. 

Wimbledon on the big Screen 

The end of the month welcomes the return of Wimbledon on the Big Screen to Plymouth City Centre. Watch all of the tennis action from this year’s Wimbledon Championships. While you’re there, try your hand at Padel the UK’s fastest growing sport, at the pop-up Padel court on the Piazza. Wimbledon on the Big Screen runs from 29 June to 12 July.

The Strength of Spirit Games 

The Strength of Spirit Games, The Rehabilitation Triathlon returns on Thursday 25 June. Show your support for the incredible participants in this Tri-Service adaptive recovery event for personnel in recovery and a cohort of Service Veterans who will compete in swim, bike, and rowing events. Witness their unwavering determination and commitment in this truly inspiring event. 

The World Cup begins

The World Cup kicks off on 12 June and there’s plenty of places across the city showcasing the most iconic trophy in world football. From fan zones with big screens to popular pubs on the waterfront, Plymouth is packed with venues to get your football fix this summer. Take a look at some of the top places in the city to watch the action.  

Biking Display show in Plymouth City Centre

Plymouth City Centre welcomes a cycling display show to the new Amphitheatre performance space on Saturday 27 June. Watch on as the RPM Mountain Bike Display, as seen on Red Bull, look forward to a day of expert stunt riding and a performance to thrill and excite all ages.  

As well as the bike show is a performance from one-woman entertainment roller-coaster Abi Collins. For more than three decades Abi Collins has travelled the globe performing on street, stage, tv and film.
