About us
If you are at liberty to watch 1984 you are fortunate to not yet inhabit Orwell's chilling dystopian world. Yet. You are still free to heed the warning. Admittedly there are hundreds of politicians around the world constantly accusing their opponents of hurtling towards this Orwellian nightmare. 'Post Truth' politics is not a million miles away from double speak; AI creating music is very similar to Orwell's 'versifier'. However, Orwell never intended this to be a prediction of the future, only a warning to those of us who would stand idly by.
The Tamaritans promise to bring a sharpness and density to Orwell's original dialogue. The play uses a dramatic device of 'therapy sessions' within a state facility to tell the story leading up to Winston's arrest. Found guilty of Thought Crimes the prisoners must re-enact key moments from Winston's past so that they can learn from their mistakes and begin their reconstruction. Thus,1984 is seen as a love story at heart, but with no 'happy ever after'. It is essentially cast at human scale and is about people living within a totalitarian regime and what the state can do to them.
Hence 2 plus 2 will eventually equal 5.
