About us
Associate Professor Sana Murrani will discuss her current research on the ways in which the construction of memory overlaps with the making of recovery space in diaspora. She will present highlights on the findings of her Creative Recovery project, where she worked with 12 refugees and asylum seekers based in Plymouth to use memories of home to build a new life, and address negative attitudes to immigration at the same time.
Sana is a Lecturer in Architecture and Founder of the Displacement Studies Research Network at the University of Plymouth. The Displacement Studies Research Network is a global multidisciplinary community of scholars, practitioners and organisations working at the intersection between displacement, heritage, and creativity to research and enhance the impact of the creative agencies of displaced peoples, their culture, identity, heritage, health and well-being.
