About us
A Press of Suspects {presents} have teamed up with St Lukes are thrilled to announce a Comedy Event at the glorious New Continental Hotel with ALL profit going to support St Lukes Hospice.
It is an honour to be able to support this incredible charity. St Lukes helps those who have lost loved ones, something everyone of us will experience at some point in our lives.
Performing on the night will be:
Anna Kierle: In 2003 Anna replied to an advert for new comedians. She had no material and had never done a stand up set. Her third ever gig saw her come second in the Funny Women awards. She reached the Edinburgh Fringe final of "So you think you're funny?" with her fifth gig, compered by Bill Bailey .Her sixth gig was in Torquay on a Wednesday night. Anna has a cheeky comedic storytelling style and has been described as a bumpkin, she has, however ,won the Weakest Link! Performing as a standup locally and Internationally a quick witted, responsive MC she has experience from festivals, and clubs to prestigious events.
Mark Dennet: Mark's wife takes full responsibility for his comedy career. If she hadn't kicked him out of the house one night after telling him to get a hobby, then he would never have gone to his local comedy club and asked for his first open spot. Mark draws on a lifetime of often bizarre (yet relatable) incidents to mind for joke based comedy gold. He is still very happily married and is glad that he chose comedy over golf.
Sarita Hunt: A born and bred Cornish maid, her comedy is based on her intriguing journey of a life filled with extreme highs and lows. She will show you the lighter side of some dark life experiences, exposing the fascinating world of being a transgender woman in a small town.
Edward Chapman: Edward's comedy career started at the age of 68 when he said to another comedian that he had wanted to be a stand-up when he was at school but was not funny enough. That led to an appearance at a new material night at Toast in Falmouth on 1st August 2022. It went well and Edward was hooked. He has now appeared at several different venues in Cornwall and has also made the journey across the Tamar from Cornwall, where he lives, to Devon to perform in Devon. Edward gently pokes fun at his old profession accountancy, his veganism, the Cornish obsession with pasties and draws on his long years of lived experience to highlight the funny and bizarre things that people do
All hosted by:
Willtordian Ballorian Edwardian: The baby of the bunch moved to Plymouth 4 years ago and performed his first ever stand up set in the city. A now full time comic he has been wowing audiences with his unique brand of comedy. A man with a penchant for owls and a celebration of the absurd silliness of life! Expect chaos, music, prizes and owls....
Tickets are "Pay what you can afford" (minimum £8) with all profit going to St Lukes
