About us

After an enforced 2 year absence, A Press of Suspects {presents} are back! The first outing is a small, intimate and hilarious show - limited space so grab your ticket asap! Pay what you can (£5 min)

Edward Tripp. An award-winning Northern Irish comedian and former Bard of Exeter. He is a surreal, genre-bending, stand-up poet.

Ed ponders his cultural identity through the mediums of story-telling and prop-heavy stand-up poetry.

Featuring defrosted wives, visits from Uncle Connor (who isn't in the IRA) and at least one unforgettable tribute to the late Lady Diana. If you enjoy spoken-word poetry, this is the show for you. If you dislike spoken-word poetry, this is probably the show for you too. Expect the unexpected...and hold on tight"

"Seek Edward out like buried treasure" - Spencer Jones, Comedian and Actor

"Utterly unexpectable and very moreish" - Kate Copstick, The Scotsman

"Alan Bennett meets The Blair Witch Project" - Wil Adamsdale, Comedian and Actor

"Absurd and Hysterical, he had the audience in stitches" - Razz Magazine

"Speaking as a zookeeper - that was the most accurate impression of a turtle eating lettuce I have ever seen" - Jenna Crawford, audience member (and Zookeeper).

Cristina Varga: A Romanian theatre maker, performance artist and comedian based in Plymouth, UK. She pursued a master's degree in Performance Training at Plymouth University, during which she began experimenting with interdisciplinary art that blends physical theatre and new media art often featuring nature as a visual element. Through her work, Cristina wants to forge a connection with the audience by intertwining autobiographical narratives with mixed media art, music and physical theatre.

Recently, she discovered a passion for stand-up comedy and has been performing in Devon and Cornwall, where she is gaining a following in the local comedy scene.

Praise for her latest show Close Enough -

Close Enough is more than just a comedy; it's a celebration of resilience, adaptation, and the search for belonging -One Plymouth

Close Enough powerfully and lovingly points out the idiosyncrasies of the British way of life, the language and the social tics. But it also poignantly teases out Cristina's own experience, one that has seen her at times lost and confused both at her situation and at her own reaction to it. Cristina combines bravado and gusto with a keen ear, an eye for detail, a nose for a punchline and a mind that goes on questioning - PRSC
