About us

The annual Plymouth College of Art Degree Shows see the college transform into a hub of creativity and inspiration, showcasing the work produced by final year students across the School of Design + Communication and School of Arts + Media - from ceramics and printed textiles to game arts and graphic design.
Highlighting work from the freshest creative talent across the college's undergraduate programmes, this summer's Degree Shows, from Saturday 15 to Thursday 20 June 2019, offer an exclusive window into life at an independent university sector art school, and a chance to preview a new wave of makers ready to take over the creative industries.

Three buildings, four floors and more than 15 exhibition spaces
Our campus will be full of inspirational thinking and making. We provide a space where people come together, explore new horizons, and push the boundaries of creative practice.

With open doors across all our working studios, guests are invited to explore cutting-edge facilities such as Fab Lab Plymouth and our £8 million dedicated crafts workshops for ceramics, glass and metalwork.

An eclectic range of mediums
Combining both modern and traditional, artwork will be exhibited across the college — including film, photography, fine art installation, fashion design, game arts, illustration, glassworks, ceramics, animation, 3D printing and so much more. You can get involved too with artwork available to purchase, film screenings, and live presentations running throughout the show schedule.

The next generation of creatives
Explore work from the next generation of creative makers such as Elliot Rowe, a student on our BA (Hons) Animation programme, whose hands-on training from senior model-makers at Aardman Animations and former career as a carpenter and boat builder are evident in his large-scale stop-motion animations.

BA (Hons) Commercial Photography for Fashion, Advertising & Editorial student Zephyre Rose will be exhibiting her intimate portraits of sibling life and intricate familial relationships, while BA (Hons) Graphic Design student Thyra Bankole discusses women of colour in the creative industries in her new zine, Melanated Magazine.

Anna Friend swaps the gore of traditional vampire films for a glitzy alternative in her music video, which can be seen during the inaugural Absolute Film Festival, hosted in our brand new cinema space. Taking place from 17 to 19 June and programmed by BA (Hons) Film students, visitors are invited to take a seat in the plush cinema chairs and enjoy a range of curated short films produced by the final year students.

Kelly Rice, BA (Hons) Interior Design, Decoration & Styling student, will be laying out her plans for a touring bus that highlights the benefits and teaches the skills of upcycling furniture, with bold, colourful and sustainable results.

Ignite – Festival of Creativity
Plymouth College of Art's Degree Shows will take place as part of the city's inaugural Ignite Festival of Creativity, comprising a programme of events, exhibitions and networking opportunities throughout June 2019 to showcase and engage Plymouth's creative talent.

Developed by Plymouth College of Art and the University of Plymouth, working with the Real Ideas Organisation, and supported with funding from the Cultural Development Fund through Arts Council England and DCMS, Ignite Festival of Creativity will examine how we can harness creativity to create a sustainable, inclusive economy that is at the heart of a bright future for Plymouth.

Considering a course with us?
Be sure to register for our official Open Day on Saturday 15 June, the perfect opportunity to connect with staff, alumni and preview the thrilling culmination of three years study here at our unique institute.

Entrance is entirely free and all exhibition spaces are open to the public. Continue the conversation online, using #DS19.
