About us
For two days only, the Drift Tricks sculptures are landing at Tavistock Place The Box Plymouth—and this time, they're here to be skated.
Originally designed by artists Dani Abulhawa & Bedir Bekar with the PRIMEdesign group, these structures were inspired by Plymouth's Civic Centre. Imagined as fragments of its modernist roof ripped off the building in an extreme weather event, the debris on the plaza gets reinterpreted as creative obstacles by skateboarders and others. Restrictions on skating at Civic meant these playful, performative sculptures never got their chance to shine in situ but they have since been installed at Prime Plymouth and Leeds Art Gallery and now on the plaza outside The Box.
From June 6th-7th, we're bringing the Drift Tricks sculptures to life in the way they were meant to be used: sessioned by skaters and anyone else who wants to roll, slide, grind, and jump on, over, along, and off them!
Expect:
Live skate activations showcasing what's possible when public space is built for play
An open session—come skate, hang out & get involved
A chance to be part of history as these sculptures hit the streets for the first time
This isn't just about skating—it's about reclaiming and reimagining our urban spaces. Pull up and be part of the movement!
June 6th-7th | Tavistock Place, Plymouth 10am onwards
Open to all—come roll, watch, or just vibe
