About us

Get ready for an unforgettable offshore adventure — the Plymouth Fastnet 500 Race! Starting in the iconic Plymouth Sound, the fleet will head out through the Western Entrance, round the famous Fastnet Rock to port, sweep past the Isles of Scilly (also to port), and power back to finish between the Breakwater Lighthouse and the Queens Ground navigation buoy.

Covering approximately 500 nautical miles, this race mirrors the spirit and challenges of the legendary Original Lonely Rock Race — but with a twist. Competitors can look forward to four exhilarating race segments that test skill, endurance, and strategy, all without the tricky tidal gates at Hurst Castle, Portland, or Start Point. The course offers a streamlined offshore experience, keeping both the start and finish conveniently in Plymouth, making it an ideal test of seamanship and teamwork in one of Britain’s most scenic race routes.
