About us
Back by popular demand – Home Educator Day is back, and we’re thrilled to announce a new date with an exciting theme to match! On Thursday 6th March, we invite you to explore the fascinating world of Animal Behaviour and Research.
How do we know our animals are happy and healthy? How can we ensure they have the best enrichment, diet, and enclosures? It all comes down to understanding animal behaviour and research. On this special day, you’ll step into the role of a researcher, learning about the incredible world of animal behaviour and getting hands-on with some of the research equipment we use at Dartmoor Zoo.
Our Home Educator Days are designed to welcome home-educated children and their families to explore the zoo for just £15 (one adult and one child), with a different theme each session. These days offer flexibility and freedom, with engaging talks and activities running across the site. For those looking for a more interactive experience, you can also book onto one of our educator-led workshops to take a deeper dive into the topic.
The £15 entry rate is available per booking, with any additional group members needing to be booked at the standard accompanying adult and child rates. Pre-booking is essential to secure this special rate, as on-the-day entry will be charged at the standard admission price. This discounted price is only available on Home Educator Days and cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.
Please meet at the Meerkat enclosure five minutes before your workshop start time. Children must be accompanied by an adult when attending the workshop, and their behaviour is the responsibility of the accompanying adult. There will be opportunities to leave the room if necessary during the session. Strict start times apply, and late arrivals will not be permitted entry to workshops. The 11am and 12pm workshops are recommended for primary-age children, while the 1 pm workshop is best suited for secondary-age students.
Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to learn, explore, and engage with the world of animal research at Dartmoor Zoo!
