About us

James Meadow Rendel helped to shape Plymouth.

His local works included the first iron bridge at Laira, the pioneering steam powered chain ferries at Saltash and Torpoint and Plymouth's first steamship pier at Millbay.

This event is part of our ongoing ICE 200 programme which commemorates the 200th anniversary of the founding of the Institution of Civil Engineers.
