About us
How does your relationship to dance and movement change when translated into the metaverse (3D virtual space)? Join immersive director Hannah Wood of Story Juice and choreographer Rob Mennear of GRIT Dance Company to explore the creative possibilities of using motion capture (mocap) technologies in your dance and theatre practice.
The masterclass will take place in the Immersive Media Lab on the University of Plymouth campus, a cutting-edge facility for experimentation with immersive technologies.
You'll be introduced to the mocap pipeline, from donning a mocap suit to puppeteering a virtual 3D model, as well as participating in R&D for an exciting new immersive project.
For ages: 18+
No previous professional dance or movement experience is necessary, just the desire to play and have fun.
The workshop includes opportunities to try various immersive technologies. If you choose to try a VR headset, you'll be able to move around the physical space to explore the virtual world whilst wearing the headset. You won't be able to see the physical world, but VR hosts and a virtual guard space will keep you safe. If you choose to use an AR headset, you'll be able to see the physical world as you explore the integrated virtual world. Headsets can be adjusted for glasses wearers, as well as different hairstyles and headgear.
