About us
The theme for World Maritime Day 2018 has been designated by the International Maritime Organization as 'Our Heritage: Better Shipping for a Better Future'.It provides an opportunity to take stock and look back and consider current and future challenges for maritime transport. The aim is to maintain, continue and strengthen the contribution of maritime transport towards sustainable growth for the benefit of the world's population.
World Maritime Day has been celebrated by local branches of maritime professional organisations, and supported by the University of Plymouth Marine Institute since 2008.
The keynote speaker this evening is Richard Clayton, Chief Correspondent for Lloyd's List, one of the world's oldest continuously running journals for weekly shipping news in London from 1734.
All are welcome to attend this event and booking is not required. Doors open at 18:30 for 19:00 start and there is limited free car parking on the campus after 16:00 hours.
