About us
The 2018 Plymouth Marine Science & Education Foundation (PlymSEF) Spring Public Lecture will be given by Kelvin Boot, BBC broadcaster, writer and science communicator.Since his first ever radio appearance at the age of fifteen Kelvin Boot has spent his life sharing his love for the natural world and the science that helps to explain it. His enthusiasm for nature has never faltered and he takes great pleasure in championing those creatures 'we love to hate', despite having been stung or bitten by a Portugese Man o'War, a dead shark, spiders, a couple of snakes and a host of other ungrateful animals.
Hundreds of radio and TV programmes and thousands of articles later, Kelvin will take us on a safari through some of his close encounters with the natural world and visit some of the exotic places he has been lucky enough to visit; on the way he will reflect back at how the press and media deal with science and nature.
