About us
The BCS South West Branch offers a chance to spend the evening experiencing (or indeed reliving) the earlier generations of video gaming. The free event will begin with a brief scene-setting talk from Professor Steven Furnell, the curator of the South West Retro Computing Archive. Steve will introduce some of the technologies on show, and compare them to more... modern consoles.
This will be followed by the opportunity for extensive hands-on play with around 20 of the devices held in the archive. These will include well-known consoles of the past, such as the Atari VCS and Sega Mega Drive, as well as more obscure models such as Radofin and Rowtron. Some handheld electronic games and home computers of the era will also make an appearance.
Light refreshments will be available from 19.00.
All welcome but registration is required via the link on the University webpage.
