About us

Dir. Freddie Hutton-Mills, UK, 2026, 81 mins. Cast. Nadine Mills, Olivia Grant, Jonas Armstrong, CJ Beckford.

Rooted Out is a darkly comic two-part drama set over one increasingly volatile day during the 2024 UK riots. What begins as a seemingly ordinary neighbourly dispute over a tree gradually spirals into a devastating confrontation about race, class, identity and belonging in modern Britain. Set largely within two adjoining suburban homes, the film unfolds almost in real time as two middle-class couples attempt to maintain civility while buried resentments, prejudices and ideological tensions slowly rise to the surface.

Combining the intimacy of a chamber piece with escalating psychological tension and uncomfortable humour, the film explores the fault lines beneath contemporary liberal Britain, where politeness, progressivism and tolerance are tested under pressure.

Chapter One was officially selected for Raindance Film Festival 2026.
