About us
Imagine you were granted magic powers to create a better world, to come into being the moment the clock ticks round to 2020. Politics, budget, scale – none of these are any obstacle. Your only limitation is that this world has to be theoretically achievable now - so, no time travel. What does this superior Planet Earth of 2020 look like, and why? What do people do there? Where do they live? Where does their energy come from, and their food? In fact, what are the biggest and most important issues that this near future world has dealt with?
Charting a path through these and other questions will be three distinguished speakers from the University of Plymouth: Dr Lynda Rodwell, a specialist in ecological economics; Dr Ben Smith, acclaimed poet and novelist; and Professor John Spicer, expert in marine biology. So, join us for an evening of imaginative leaps into a future that could be just around the corner.
