Morning
Kickstart your Sunday with a trip to Plymouth's historic quarter at The Barbican. Home to many quaint shops, cafes and even the country's oldest working gin distillery, the area is a culture haven and its streets hold fascinating stories of times gone by in Britain's Ocean City.
There are many free attractions and places to visit within the area, take a walk to the Mayflower Steps, and you can see where the Pilgrim fathers set sail to settle in America in 1620. If you would like to learn more about Plymouth take a trip to the Mayflower Museum and embark on a journey through time with four floors of history to explore.
Afternoon
Once you've immersed yourself in one of Plymouth's culture capitals it may be time to stretch your legs and head to the magical landscapes of Dartmoor National Park.
Just a short journey from Plymouth, the park is home to 954 kilometres of breathtaking scenery - don't worry we aren't suggesting you explore it all in one afternoon!
However, you could visit some of the many ancient sites dotted around the park (it's home to the largest number of archaeological remains in Europe), take on a walk in the serene moorland environment or check out some of Dartmoor's famous granite Tors which act as stone landmarks within the park.
Alternatively, take a short ferry ride across the water from Admiral's hard near the Royal William yard and explore the vast gardens of Mount Edgcumbe Country House. The estate boasts more than 800 acres of immaceluate scenery which is well worth exploring. Clamber your way up the hill to the historic folly and you will be blessed with unbelievable panoramic views over to Plymouth.
