About us

Join Ellie Warren for an informal talk about two paintings on display at The Box by husband and wife Stanhope and Elizabeth Forbes.

We'll begin with Stanhope Forbes' most celebrated painting 'A Fish Sale on a Cornish Beach', learning how the natural landscape and fisherfolk of Victorian Cornwall inspired the father of the Newlyn School.

After a short walk upstairs, we'll see Elizabeth Forbes' 'Imogen' and examine her international reach and pivotal role in the success of Newlyn's artistic colony.
