About us
Fruits de Mer is an art exhibition of mixed media, photographs and sculptures."The House Group, artists Rod Birtles and Alison Theaker, make images and structures from things they have found on the beaches of the South Hams to illustrate the mainly plastic waste that ends up in our oceans.
This exhibition features 'Coffee Coral', made from disposable coffee cup lids to represent some of the 7 million single use cups we consume every day in the UK.
A specially commissioned piece, Milky Way, features the milk bottles and lids we use over a 4 week period. Whilst the bottles themselves are recyclable, this is the only element that BTP have not been able to source in reusable containers.
Boston Tea Party was an obvious choice to host the display due to their decision last year to ban single-use takeaway cups. This, amongst other initiatives, led the café chain to be named the 'most ethical café in the UK' by Ethical Consumer."
Private View ~ Thursday 11th April ~
You will be able to purchase work directly from the artists' at the private view. There will be free nibbles including our homemade toasties and scones and you can purchase hot drinks, cold drinks and alcoholic beverages at the bar.
