About us
Dir. Jeremy Deller, UK, 2010, 32 mins.
For our final screening leading up to Hello Sailor, Jeremy Deller's commissioned event as part of The Triumph of Art, we are pleased to be screening So Many Ways to Hurt You. Made in 2010, the film charts the flamboyant life and times of the wrestler 'Exotic' Adrian Street. In Deller's candid film, Street's persona shines through and reveals the hyper-camp attributes of post-war pop culture and the hard-edged attitude of his working-class Welsh background.
This event is part of The Triumph of Art, a nation-wide project by artist Jeremy Deller. It was commissioned by the National Gallery, London, as part of NG200, its Bicentenary celebrations. The Triumph of Art is being developed in partnership with Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, Mostyn in Llandudno, The Box Plymouth and The Playhouse in Derry-Londonderry. Supported by Art Fund.
