We're delighted to open up this poetry reading with Anthony (Vahni) Capildeo and Will Harris to a public audience, as part of the Poetry and Care Conference, happening at the University of Plymouth 7-8 September.

Anthony (Vahni) Capildeo

Anthony (Vahni) Capildeo is the author of numerous books/pamphlets of poetry. Their recent books include Like a Tree, Walking (Carcanet, 2021, a Poetry Book Society Choice); Odyssey Calling (Sad Press, 2020); Skin Can Hold (Carcanet, 2019); Venus as a Bear (Carcanet, 2018); Measures of Expatriation (Carcanet, 2016), and Utter (Peepal Tree Press, 2013). They have been a Judith E Wilson Fellow at Cambridge, a Fellow at University of Leeds Poetry Centre, and are currently Writer-in-Residence at University of York. Their writing has been recognised by awards including the Forward Prize for Best Poetry Collection (for Measures of Expatriation, also shortlisted for the TS Eliot Prize), a Cholmondeley Award from Society of Authors in 2018, and election to Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature in 2019.

Will Harris

Will Harris is a London-based writer. He is the author of the poetry books RENDANG (2020) and Brother Poem (2023), both published by Granta in the UK and by Wesleyan University Press in the US. He has been shortlisted for the T.S. Eliot Prize and won the Forward Prize for Best First Collection. He helps facilitate the Southbank New Poets Collective with Vanessa Kisuule, and co-translated Habib Tengour's Consolatio with Delaina Haslam in 2022. He currently works in extra-care homes and is a Visiting Poetry Fellow at UEA working towards a community-led archive of poets' work.
