Enjoy the Pirates Weekend as a real pirate.
In short: Sail on Atyla from our homeport in Bilbao to the Pirates Weekend in Plymouth (UK). After 4 days at sea you'll feel like a real pirate, so dressing up as one and telling the visitors about your trip will be loads of fun!
TRIP DESCRIPTION:
Atyla truly looks like a pirate ship, and in 2020 she participates for the first time on the famous Pirates Weekend at the Plymouth's waterfront to become one of the main highlights of the event. This trip is your chance to become part of this historical moment!
You'll embark in Bilbao, at our homeport in the centre of the city. After meeting the other adventurers on board, receiving some safety instructions and some basics about the life on board and the challenges ahead, we'll set sail and go down the Bilbao Estuary.
Once on the open sea, and depending on the direction of the wind. We'll either go straight or along the coast, trying to use the wind as much as we can.
During the trip, we'll use the experiences and the challenges on board to work on life skills such as teamwork, emotional intelligence and intercultural communication. This will give depth to the experience and will help us reflect on our own lives as individuals.
Along the way, unless the weather doesn't allow it, we'll also anchor somewhere along the coast of France (probably some small island in Brittany). We'll be able to jump from the ship to go for a swim and go to land to explore a little bit with the other adventurers on board.
On the 8th of May at 19:30 we'll make our entrance in Plymouth for the Pirates Weekend. That night we'll all celebrate the arrival with a group dinner, probably at a local restaurant.
Thousands of people from the UK and overseas will come to Plymouth to be part of this famous festival. You'll also be a part of all that, and you'll have your home at the heart of the event.
During the weekend we’ll take turns to keep people safe while they visit the ship. They might ask about the Atyla experience, so you'll have the chance to tell them about your trip.
If you embark as a participant you’ll be expected to help out with the duties on board, but if you want to be liberated from all duties on board you can book this trip as a passenger. This also gives you the opportunity to disembark as soon as the ship reaches land if you don't want to sleep on board during the weekend.
The disembarkation is on the 10th of May (Sunday) at 11:00. If you want to stay on board longer, you can do the next trip and come with us back to Bilbao. If you do both trips you can get a 10% discount by booking them with the code "2PIRATETRIPS".
