About us
Many believe WW11 was over in May 1945, but this was the fighting in Europe only. Many thousands were still fighting or being held in barbaric conditions by the Japanese in the Pacific Isles. Many died on "Hell Ships", locked below deck. Unlike other conflicts, who's survivors were asked to talk about their war time experiences, the Far East Prisoners and survivors of the Pacific were told to "go home and keep your mouths shut as you wouldn't be believed".
VJ Day in Plymouth has never been forgotten, as it is remembered every year.
Plymouth will come together to remember the people of Plymouth, British and Allied Forces, Civilian Men, Women and Children and this year is the 79th Anniversary of the end of WW11. A memorial service will be held in the Minster Church of St. Andrew. Seated by 12 noon please.
We would like to thank those who have supported us and to Cllr Carol Ney who has supported us towards the costings with a Community Grant.
