About us

What would your ideal home look like? And how do we build more homes that are affordable, sustainable and built for the communities that actually live in them?

Researchers from the University of Plymouth are working on exactly that, using digital design, innovative construction techniques and hands-on community involvement to explore new ways of building homes that work for people and the planet. Their work has taken them from Plymouth's own Whitleigh community to rural housing projects in Chile and displaced communities in Türkiye, always with the same principle at its heart: that the people who live in a place should help shape it.

Find us in Plymouth city centre this September for an interactive installation showcasing the building blocks - literally - of this research! Get hands on with the materials and models, talk to the researchers and discover how digital innovation could help solve one of the biggest challenges facing communities like Plymouth today.

Drop in at any time throughout the day. No booking required.

Free entry. All ages welcome.
