The Strength of Spirit Games - Rehabilitation Triathlon, hosted by the Royal Navy, sponsored by AECOM and Defence Recovery is back on Plymouth Hoe and Tinside Lido this summer. As part of Armed Forces week celebrations, the triathlon will take place on Thursday 25 June.
Come and show your support and admiration to the participants taking part in this year’s exciting triathlon, on Plymouth Hoe and Tinside Lido. The games will see service personnel on recovery duties and veterans compete in the swim, bike and row events.
This triathlon that will get the crowds excitement going as you see the pure determination and commitment of those competing in this inspiring event.
Race Details
Swimming at Tinside Lido
The action kicks off at 11am from the historic Tinside Lido, a Grade II listed, Art Deco saltwater pool with breath-taking views of Plymouth Sound National Marine Park. Fully accessible, this iconic venue provides the perfect setting for the opening swim.
Cycling on Plymouth Hoe
Competitors will then take to the Hoe promenade, navigating a thrilling cycle course that runs across and around the back of Plymouth Hoe.
Rowing Challenge
The final stage will see participants battle it out on static rowing machines before making their way to the finishing line.
Awards Ceremony
The main stage will host the all-important awards ceremony, where competitors will be recognised for their achievements and receive their well-deserved awards. The ceremony will begin with a performance from the Royal Marine Band Plymouth Corps of Drums.
Refreshments
There will be food and drink available from C&G Catering, who will be selling a selection of hot food, including wood fired pizza, plus ice cream, cakes and hot and cold drinks.

Junior Rowing Challenge
For the third year running, we welcome 150 children from military families, as they take part in the thrilling Junior Rowing Challenge on Plymouth Hoe, and organised by the Plymouth School Sports Partnership, on Plymouth Hoe. This exciting event will have pupils from over 24 primary schools competing in the demanding rowing challenge.
Come and cheer them on from 10am to 11.15am with their awards ceremony taking place on the main stage at 11.45am
