The Plymouth Athenaeum Autumn Series Lecture continues with 'Satellites: Man-made Stars in our Skies' on Thursday, 14th November (2.30pm).
he Lecture will be presented by Andrew Lavender, who works in the satellite industry and is a Director of the local company Pixalytics Ltd.
he talk will examine the thousands of man-made satellites that are currently circulating the Earth. Taking in a bit of their history, and looking at the various sizes, orbits, ownerships and purposes of all these satellites, together with what the future might look like.
ixalytics undertake commercially focused scientific R&D in the field of Earth Observation (EO), which includes developing new products and services from the array of available satellite data, identifying, and developing, new methods for in-situ data recording and gathering information about the Earth, using satellites or aircraft mounted sensors.
