Plymouth’s Waterfront is full of wonderful delights and it’s always a great place to go exploring to find many hidden treasures.

   

Scenic sights for a walk

You’re spoilt for choice for stunning views when it comes to Plymouth’s Waterfront. How about a walk along the cobble stones of the historic Barbican area taking in the wonderful views including the harbourside views of Sutton Harbour. Be sure to check out the Mayflower Steps and the beloved ‘Barbican Prawn’.

A stroll up and around the Plymouth Hoe with the iconic Smeaton’s Tower, Tinside Lido, which opens in May, and the general breath-taking views of the Plymouth Sound offer a great dose of “Vitamin Sea”

Or how about a walk through the gates of the Royal William Yard and exploring the largest collection of Grade 1 listed military buildings in Europe and step through the firestone arch out onto the Bay for a lovely view of Drake's Island.

   

Grab a bite to eat

Love food? You’re faced with a fantastic array of great places to eat across the Waterfront. The trouble is where do you start?! Here’s 5 places to try to get you started…

For delicious dishes of fine street food check out Suphas with their picturesque views of Sutton Harbour. Their emphasis is on serving up seasonal produce and sharing fresh food with street-food style cooking and strong Asian influences.

Over at the Royal William Yard, pop into the Hook and Line for offers of delicious fresh seafood, cocktails, wine, fizz, speciality rums and great coffee.

Cap’n Jaspers the world-famous cafe and takeaway restaurant is located on the Barbican. Be sure to tuck into their signature burger the mouth-watering Jasperizer!

For a place to enjoy food while watching ships sail on by, the Terrace Café & Bar is perfectly located right in the middle of the Plymouth Hoe foreshore.

Fans of traditional fish and chips should pay a visit to Rockfish, in their New England-style beach shack setting, located next door to the National Marine Aquarium.

Enjoy a drink

Raise a cup of coffee or glass of wine with friends and family in one of the wide variety of cafes, bars and pubs on offer.

The Dolphin Pub on the Barbican offers a warm welcome and is well known for its perfect pint of bass and other selection of ales.

Upstairs within the Plymouth Gin Distillery, you’ll find the stunning surroundings of the Refectory Bar offering a refreshing gin and tonic along with a wide array of cocktails.

Plymouth’s popular Irish Bar, Kitty O’Hanlon’s is located on St Andrews Street showing popular sporting events and a line-up of regular live music

The North Street No.7 Café and Bar within the heart of Bretonside offers coffee, a light lunch menu and a bar. In the evening the venue is home to regular quiz’s, live music, and open mic nights.

Over at the Royal William Yard, the Seco Lounge is a home from home, offering delicious food and drinks options

There’s a host of great places to have fun on the waterfront!

Explore the National Marine Aquarium, home to the UK’s largest aquarium packed full of over 4,000 marine animals including sharks!

Plymouth Pavilions offers a packed schedule of shows from live music and top comedy acts all year round.

To enjoy time out on the waterfront, you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Mount Batten Watersports and Activities Centre. Try SUP, Kayaking and more. They even offer dedicated family fun sessions on a range of water-based activities

The Barbican Theatre has a great line-up of acts and shows to enjoy both within the theatre and around the community too.

Treasure Island on the Plymouth Hoe is a lovely location to take on their 18 hole adventure golf course, hop on rides, bounce on the trampolines and more
