About us

Venture and discover Plymouth, Britain's Ocean City, with its unique location between moors and sea, this vibrant 'waterfront city' is a perfect base for touring. With its wealth of attractions and facilities and wide range of accommodation, Plymouth is also an ideal destination for both day trips and short breaks.

Start your voyage of discovery by visiting spectacular Plymouth Hoe where you can climb up Smeaton's Tower Lighthouse to enjoy the best views in Plymouth, overlooking the art-deco style Tinside Lido and Plymouth Sound National Marine Park.

In the Elizabethan Barbican, where history comes alive, attractions include the Mayflower Steps, where the Pilgrims set sail for America and Plymouth Gin Distillery, which has been producing Plymouth Gin since 1793. The area is also home of the National Marine Aquarium, which is the largest aquarium in the UK and houses the deepest tank in Europe.

The city is the region's shopping capital. The modern pedestrianised City Centre, with its floral displays and water features, is a delight for shoppers with all the major retailers represented and a host of independent specialist outlets.

After dark the city comes alive with restaurants, clubs and bars. We have one of the best theatres in the country, Theatre Royal Plymouth, with a programme ranging from drama to musicals and Plymouth Pavilions is the major regional concert venue.
